How to Boost Productivity by Studying Less and Having More Fun

How many times have you put your social life on the back burner to study for a looming deadline, only to find yourself lacking the motivation to get anything done? Although making studying your number one priority might seem like a good idea, in reality it often leaves you feeling moody, bored and simply unproductive. Focus on quality over quantity, put fun back on the agenda and follow these simple study hacks to make less equal more.
Schedule Social Plans in Between Work
Instead of becoming a hermit during exam season and canceling all your plans, schedule in when you’re going to see your friends throughout the week. Plan a lunch date, explore a new art exhibition or catch a friend for a coffee and a chat. Whatever you do, make sure you are taking a break regularly to do something you enjoy. Not only will this give you something to look forward to throughout the day, but giving yourself a deadline will force you to be efficient!
Get Outside
A walk in the park might seem like a waste of time when you’re drowning in revision, but there’s only so much your brain can handle without taking a break! Plug in a podcast and get away from your desk for a breath of fresh air; it will be like pressing the refresh button you so desperately need.
Change Your Scenery
Rather than spending all day studying in your bedroom or under those nauseatingly fluorescent lights in the library, try changing up your working environment for something a little more enjoyable. Take your laptop down to your favourite coffee shop, order yourself an Instagrammable flat white and a spot of breakfast and get working. It’s a small change that will make a day of studying seem a lot more appealing. It might also make you think twice about binge-watching Youtube videos instead of tackling your mounting to do list!
Get in a Workout
Whether you’re an early bird who likes to run before breakfast, or you look forward to working up a sweat in between study sessions, getting in a workout is great for boosting productivity. Book into your favourite gym class and work out those exam stresses – you’ll be thankful for those endorphins when you get back to your desk.
Plan a Study Session with Friends
You might not have the time to spend your whole day chilling out with your friends, but having the company of them around you whilst you study will be so much nicer than hiding away on your own. Even better? Test each other on tough questions and combine your knowledge for some seriously productive revision. Studying for exams is about to get a whole lot more fun!
