How A Heatwave Can Make You Productive

Over the past few weeks in the UK the sun has finally made an appearance, and don’t we deserve it? Winter 2017-18 has seemed to drag itself out so much that some people began losing their will to live but fear not, the sun is here and hopefully to stay for a while.
Not only does the sun cheer up the faces of yourself and those around you, getting everyone outside and having a blast, it can boost your productivity in work too. So, don’t worry if you had to work for the bank holiday weekend or you see all your friends posting on Instagram about their lovely sunny days off punting while you’re sat at your desk. There are reasons why your work in the sunshine could be the best you’ve ever produced.
New spaces to work in
Along with many effective ways that you can use to spark the creativity within you, getting outdoors and a change of environment can do just the job too. By taking your work al fresco and putting aside the four walls of your office that your brain is used to, you will find that the mental stimulation leaps up a notch and your ability to brainstorm news ideas seems easier to reach.
On sunny days, take a break from the office and have meetings outside, you never know what genius ideas could arise from this. If you work from home then take your laptop outside, the creativity will shine through.
Office work can seem mundane and that is partly due to the dull environment and constant view of the same walls filled with the same pictures, notes and design. Changing it up a bit from time to time can influence your ideas and build up more motivation. Warm and dry weather gives you a perfect opportunity to do this so grasp it with both hands.
Sunshine makes you happy
As well as getting your creative juices flowing, the sunshine is proven to make you happier, with more energy. Increased serotonin levels will increase your vitality and give you the motivation to get things done. Everything seems clearer inside your mind when you’re in a good mood leaving space for new information or the mindset to organise the information that you’ve already got.
Working in this state of mind makes you more productive which creates an uphill spiral because the more work you complete, the better you feel. Compare working on a gloomy day as opposed to one with blue skies and gleaming sun and see for yourself the difference it makes to the amount you get done.
Reward yourself after
As gutting as it can feel knowing that you’re the only one in your friendship group at work while the others play on a sunny day, knowing that as soon as you clock off there will be time to soak up some rays is a good feeling.
Living in England and especially after a long winter, so many days are spent at work and then once you’re home it’s too dark or wet to do anything, so you just have dinner and go to bed ready to do it all again the following day. With brighter days and lighter evenings, the end of the working day becomes only the start of your social life.
The beer gardens will be open, the parks will still be busy, and your garden will be there so use the gorgeous weather as a way to reward your hard work. Besides, time is better spent when you know you’ve earned it.
For when it rains, here’s how to make the most of the day.
